The array of opposition to lighter (and therefore more dangerous?) vehicles would include special interest lobbyists who would fight legislation, manufacturers, until incentives outweighed costs, and possibly those who feared decreased safety factors in cars made of lighter materials. This would be a multi-decade effort.</description>
